Dr. Siham A. Al Suwaigh
Dr. Siham A. Al Suwaigh is a Bahraini professor of Educational Psychology and a
Certified Play Therapist. She received her B.S. from Oregon State University, her M.A.
from Northwestern University, and her Ph.D. from University of Oregon.
Dr. Siham began her career in 1985 as an assistant professor at King Saud University, College of Education,
and was promoted to a full professor in 2004. In addition to her teaching and supervision of graduate
students, she has served in a variety of administrative positions such as head of the Psychology Department
and Director of the Research Centre at the women's section of KSU.
She has also served as an educational consultant at AGFUND. Specializing in childhood studies, child guidance
and Play Therapy, she has published over 26 research papers, 6 books as author or coauthor in addition to
book translations and conference presentations. As a certified Play Therapist and trainer, Dr. Siham has
delivered an array of workshops in, parenting, teacher training, and Play Therapy in addition to presenting
over 100 public speeches and TV appearances in the Gulf region.
She has also received several awards for her professional achievements as well as her community services.
Between the years 2003-2008, she has served as Dean of Education and VP Academic at the Royal University
for Women in the Kingdom of Bahrain, contributed to Arab Human Development Reports for the years 2003
and 2004, wrote UNESCO report 2010 on the status of ECCE in the Arab States, Educational Consultant at
Princess Nora University in Riyadh and was also selected to be a member of the official delegation of Saudi
academics to a number of United States universities in 2005-2008.
She is currently the Founder and Director of MOSANADA Center for Child and Family Consultation located in
Bahrain. Based on her professional and personal experience as a mother of three children, Siham believes
that raising educated, healthy, critical thinking and confident children is the most important contribution to
the development of any society. She is a strong advocate of women and child rights, and she hopes that
during her work as a consultant, she will be able to contribute to the educational reforms in the Arab World.
