About BBS

The Bahrain Businesswomen's Society (BBS) was founded in 2000 to create a platform focused on empowering female entrepreneurs within Bahrain. Our aim is to strengthen the role of Bahraini women and their contribution to all commercial, economic, investment, and development activities in the country. Over the past 20 years, the BBS has run nearly 900 events and programs offering mentorship and tools to help enable female-run businesses grow and flourish in the Kingdom. Led by women who share a united vision, we regularly host seminars, conferences, workshops, and social activities providing a platform to share experiences, contribute knowledge, offer guidance and skills.

The society works on the participation of women in the Boards of Directors of the Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry, banks and investment companies and public bodies. The society aims to create closer links and cooperation between itself and similar Arab and international societies. Lastly, the society aims to promote the representation of women entrepreneurs in all forums, conferences and seminars locally, within the GCC, in other Arab countries and internationally.

Membership Requirements

1. Applicant should be a minimum of eighteen years old
2. Applicant should either be a Bahraini citizen or a resident
3. Applicant should be reputable and may not have been sentenced for involvement in crimes of moral turpitude or dishonesty unless it has been regarded
4. Applicant should be engaged in economic or commercial activity
5. Applicants should submit their applications to the Secretary of the Board of Directors according to the model prepared for this purpose. The Secretary of the Board of Directors should present the prospective members to the Board of Directors at their first meeting to decide on the acceptance or rejection within one month from the date of submission
6. Applicants will be notified regarding their acceptance or rejection, based on the decision of the Board of Directors, within two weeks from the date of their decision, with a statement of reasons in the event of a rejection
