Hala Sulaiman is the Founder and Managing Director of Beyond Borders Consultancy which is focused on providing strategic management and communication consultancy and is also a Co-Founder of AlRawi Media WLL, an innovative and award-winning audiobook application specialized in Arabic Books (@alrawibooks).
Hala Sulaiman has extensive expertise in the Middle East market and has created and implemented holistic marketing communications strategies, and used her extensive knowledge and skills to engage with the various stakeholders in the various public and private sector roles she has contributed to.
She formerly served as the Director of Marketing and Communications in Tamkeen during which she was responsible for Tamkeen's positioning and clarifying the effective role it plays in shaping the future of Bahrain's labor market and enabling Bahrainis and the private sector. During her tenure at Tamkeen, she was also seconded as part of the strategic team responsible for setting the policies and frameworks for the media center at the National Dialogue held in 2011. It is worth noting that as part of her duties within Tamkeen, she also leads the "Equal Opportunity Committee" which served in ensuring that all programs delivered and activities executed are based on competency and fairness and not gender-based.
She possesses extensive experience in the telecommunications sector in which the local market transitioned from a monopoly to a competitive one, having worked with Batelco, and Communications Consultant and Communications Manager in MTC-Vodafone (now Zain). In that role, she was responsible for managing a $5.5 million marketing communications budget, developing clear localized advertising whilst maintaining brand values of both MTC and Vodafone, and directing all media and agency relationships to gain maximum editorial and advertising exposure.
Ms. Sulaiman is passionate about media, having completed several projects in the audio, visual, and print media, and worked as a correspondent for Bahrain Radio & Television Corporation, MBC FM, Arab News, and Gulf Daily News. Ms. Sulaiman has over 20 years of experience in media, broadcasting, and journalism. She is currently studying her MBA with Strathclyde University (Glasgow, Scotland) and holds a Bachelor's degree in Mass Communications and Marketing from the University of Bahrain, as well as numerous diplomas and certifications in public relations, marketing, human resources management, and Leadership. She has also completed a Political Women Empowerment Programme under the Bahrain Institute for Political Development and Supreme Council for Women, which covered women's rights issues, media, leadership, and political issues.
She is a well-regarded public speaker and moderator and has been a jury member in several local and international events related to Entrepreneurship, Business, Technology, media and women and youth-related sectors and domains.
Ms. Sulaiman has won several regional and global awards on a personal and professional level and on behalf of her business and the organisations she worked for.
