Tenders Workshop – 6th Jan 2019
6 January 2019, Manama Bahrain: In line with its mission to promote further transparency and private sector growth in the Kingdom, the Tender Board outlined the Government of Bahrain’s tendering procedures at a workshop for Bahraini businesswomen, held at the Bahrain Chamber for Commerce and Industry (BCCI). The event was patronized by His Excellency the Minister of Housing and Chairman of the Tender Board Eng. Basim bin Yacob Al Hamer, and organized in cooperation with the Bahrain Businesswomen’s Society (BBS).
His Excellency the Minister spoke at the event alongside Bahrain Businesswomen’s Society President Ahlam Yousif Janahi and BCCI Chairman Sameer Nass. Topics covered included tender legislation, supplier registration, and an overview of Tender Board and other services offered. Participants were also given insights into the number and volume of tenders awarded in recent years and a summary of their economic impact on the Kingdom.
“Transparency and inclusion are among the highest priorities of the Tender Board,” said His Excellency the Minister. “We strive to maintain open channels of communication with all stakeholders, including Government purchasing authorities, suppliers, and contractors. It’s important to us that women business owners are equipped with the information and tools they need to participate equally in these very competitive tenders which are often major contributors to the Kingdom’s economic growth. Women entrepreneurs are quite active in the Bahraini business ecosystem, but we would like to see them play an even greater role, to help create a healthier and more competitive economy.”
